چکیده

The signal arrives from the antenna, and is amplified by one or more stages of RF amplification (and sometimes bandpass filterig), and is then presented to the 1 mixer where the signal is converted to a fixed intermediate frequency by the mixing action between the incoming signal frequency and the frequency produced by the Variable Frequency Oscillator. The result is a fixed intermediate frequency that is filtered, and amplified by the 1 IF amplifier. The signal is then typically mixed again in the 2 mixer stage, and converted to the final intermediate frequency with a fixed Local Oscillator. Once the final IF is produced, it is detected with a square-law detector, usually a detector diode. The detector produces an output voltage that is proportional to the incident AC power. This voltage is then amplified by the DC amplifier, and low-pass filtered with an integrator stage. The output of the integrator is then usually fed to a recording device of some sort.

White Paper Architecture and Component Selection for SDR Applications

In wireless communications, particularly the military space, software-defined radio (SDR) is the goal. The basic concept of SDR is to position the digital-to-analog separation as close as possible to the antenna. This is accomplished by implementing many functions traditionally performed by analog circuits using reconfigurable digital circuits. Successfully implemented, this can deliver an obso...

Reconfigurable Software Defined Radio and Its Applications

Currently, most Software Defined Radio (SDR) related products and researches focus on analog communication and voice transmission. In this paper, we propose a SDR platform with digital data communication capability. This platform consists of Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) based radio hardware and open source SDR software modules. The main features include: 1) Radio Spectrum Sensing; 2) Re...

A Gpp-based Software-defined Radio Front-end for Wlan Standards

This paper presents a software-defined radio testbed for the physical layer of wireless LAN standards. All baseband physical layer functions have been successfully mapped on a Pentium 4 processor that performs these functions in real-time. This has been tested in combination with a CMOS integrated wideband analog front-end containing a low noise amplifier, downconversion mixers and filters. The...

Analog to Digital Converter: a Key Concept in the Implementation of a 3G Software Defined Radio Receiver

With the dawn of a new millennium we find ourselves one step before the emergence of the third generation (3G) mobile communications systems in the world market. The implementation of the 3G and furthermore 4G mobile communications systems is included within the intentions of the so-called software defined radio (SDR) systems [1]. The design, development and the implementation of SDR systems ar...

Space-based Reconfigurable Software Defined Radio Test Bed aboard International Space Station

The National Aeronautical and Space Administration (NASA) recently launched a new software defined radio research test bed to the International Space Station. The test bed, sponsored by the Space Communications and Navigation (SCaN) Office within NASA is referred to as the SCaN Testbed. The SCaN Testbed is a highly capable communications system, composed of three software defined radios, integr...
